    If visiting Providence during WaterFire, get ready for a multisensory spectacle unlike anything else. Smell the aromatic wood smoke burning and head downtown to Providence's Waterplace Basin to witness the award-winning sparkling flames float across Providence.

    WaterFire is a series of over 100 bonfires perched across three rivers. Created by local artist Barnaby Evans, this mesmerizing art installation continues to draw crowds by thousands to Rhode Island's creative capital, fostering community engagement and the revitalization of downtown. Watch the lighting of this magical event paired with enchanting music with each weekly experience. Marvel at the inspiring array of street performers, musicians, and people gathered around to participate and witness WaterFire.

    There is no admission to WaterFire, however, please consider making a small donation of $5 or more to keep WaterFire Providence alive.

    Hours -
    WaterFire typically begins lighting 15 minutes after sunset. Please check the event schedule.

  • When Does The Waterfire Providence Event Take Place?

    WaterFire Providence typically takes place between May and November annually. The dates for each season are released every April. Check their website for dates and lighting times as they are updated frequently. http://waterfire.org/schedule

    Where Does Waterfire Start?

    The WaterFire installations are lit up from Waterplace Park to Memorial/South Main Street Park on scheduled evenings throughout the season. The lighting begins at Waterplace Basin shortly after sunset and will remain lit until 12:30 am. Please check the event schedule for exact times.
